Austin Texas Cruise through the hills ? who can keep up ;)

I'd love to get some Austin Jalops together and hit up a morning drive through the west side of town .. I know of some fun and fast roads and would love to get a crew together .. Maybe this sunday start early with some coffee in South Austin and then head out to the oasis off 620 and take the most back way possible to Cedar park then just on 620 take it back down to 2222 and head over to K1 Speed for some go Karts ?!?!?! WHOS COMING WITH ME MAN ..

Well I haven't planned shit man .. I'm seeing if anyone would be down .. I've lived in Austin for about 2 years now and its being incredibly tough finding the car community in this town .. All the Z car guys are pretty boring and I'm far from that so I'd defiantly be flexible on when we do this ...

I might be down. My brother will be in town. We could get my GTV6 out, and if it's uncooperative he'll have his Camaro SS 45th. But we also have some family stuff planned with my mom and the kiddos, so no promises!

It really is tough. I've lived in Austin my entire life, though I'm not that old, but I haven't been able to find any real car scene. I'll definitely keep my eyes open for any plans to do this. I would love to meet other Austin opponauts.

It's looking unlikely that I'll be back in town this weekend, work is going slowly. Probably early next week. Yep got a volvo, 1978 242 sitting in my garage. Currently I DD a '01 Cherokee after I sold my truck over the summer. And no smoking for me, I get drug tested at work.

Haha no .. theres a right up on this datsun on Speedhunters.com the owner of this car is actually one of the newer hotwheels designers whos being doing the recent old school JDM Cars that have been coming out .. my car is close to this without the flares .. Check my old post for lots of pics of my car !

When going out to the oasis, take Bee Caves Rd to Westlake Dr. Follow until you hit Toro Canyon, veer left at the Y (it's directly after you cross the only low lying bridge on the road). Stay right when you get to The High Road (another Y). You'll pass Mike Dell's house to the left. It dead ends at Westlake Dr, turn left. Follow it to 360, turn right and then take 2222 to 620, out to The Oasis. Watch your speed on the back roads; the turns can be a bit hairy. Also, there's a jump on Toro Canyon. Look at the route on google maps before hand.

Grew up in WLH and was a volunteer firefighter there for 6 years. I had to know those roads like the back of my hand.

Also, where are you going to do coffee?

IDK man .. Whatever is conveint for everyone .. I'm really no party planner .. am I'm rather new to austin so if your going to go on the cruise I'd love to consult with you on your map you just kinda told me but I have no idea where half this stuff is man ..

that sucks I quit for 2 months then ended up getting a job that doesnt care at all while still giving me full benefits and time off ! well this volvo I must say sounds incredibly boring but to each is own and I'll give anyone props for any car if its cool .

It's had some work done to it. DOHC Motor swap and a lot of suspension work by the previous owner. Won't light the world on fire but it's fun in it's own way.

No, I live just outside of Houston. But I'm coming back into town tonight to take the kids to see my parents.

Go to google maps and type in "Westlake Dr, Austin, tx". Also, I was incorrect about one thing: The High Road hits Westlake Dr, not Toro Canyon. When you stay right at the second Y, it turns into Toro Canyon.

now it sounds way more fun then before... The datsun is completely stock when it comes to the motor .. however I've got stiffer linear lowering springs and 5 way adjustable tokico illumina shocks which makes it very tunable and drive able ..

It's easy. Pick a spot for coffee that has a big parking lot. Designate a time to meet, and understand that some people will be late. An hour, hour and a half at the coffee shop would suffice. Then map out a nice route to The Oasis (eat at one of the other restaurants there, the food at the "O" always sucks. Also, reserve a table for six or so people for an hour and a half after the scheduled departure time from the coffee shop.). Call up K1 to make sure they don't have a party going on that would interfere with the group's activities.

Yes, I have organized massive events for nonprofits before. This is easy , but remember the six "P's": Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

I think we will probably wait till next sunday because the Oasis is having Cars and Coffee at about 10 .. so that would work perfectly .

Yeah, I had to replace the stock vinyl roof a few years ago, and decided that burgundy canvas was a much better choice. It's the only one in those colors that I've seen. If next weekend ends up being the time, I'll probably be down for it. I live on the east side, and it's pretty easy to get pretty much anywhere in town.
